The Challenges

The primary objective of this branding project is to create a cohesive visual identity that captures the essence of My Lost Piece's authentic Taiwanese cuisine.

When designing the brand, I confronted the following challenges:

  • It's the owners first time running a business, so they found it difficult to find a concept for their own brand.
  • The business was still under modification (such as site locating and business capacity) during the design inquiry.
  • The business prefers a versatile plan that's proper for an express kitchen and a trendy cafe.

The Solutions

After the thorough and inspiring consultation with the clients, we sought the following solutions:

  • The concept of MLP is found from the owner's holiday in South Australia where he saw a beautiful piece of drawing from an unknown couple: a lost piece of puzzle matching the other piece. This experience was his very motivation that kept him working hard and saving for the business.
  • The branding applies a simple structure so the client could change images in according to his later modification of business plan.
  • The branding adopts coral and mint as the primary colour so it's eye-catching for a bustling urban area, but also a suitable combination of colour with frequently used cafe elements, such as timber and white walls.
